is a dear friend of mine who paints lovely jewel toned paintings. While they are not Pre-Raphaelite in subject matter, her use of colour seems very Pre-Raphaelite to my limited ability to see colour.

is a French neo-classical ensemble whose melancholy music is the height of Victorian Gothic. Like Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Dark Sanctuary makes heartfelt and timeless music. I only wish I could have had their music when I had my studio at Loudoun.

was Gothic romance for all time. Like millions of other kids, I ran home in the late 1960's to watch Barnabas Collins struggle to find his way in a world familiar yet completely alien. Dark Shadows was much more than a soap opera about the supernatural, it was a tale about loss, redemption, the longing for the past, unexpected second chances and the consequences of choices made as well as the accidents of fate. But most of all, it was about the survival of love beyond what we call life. All Barnabas ever wanted was to go home to his beloved Josette. Lyndhurst

is a beautifully preserved sister house to Loudoun located near Tarrytown, New York. It was designed by the 19th Century Gothic Revival architect A. J. Davis. Dark Shadows fans will immediately recognise the house as the alternate Collinwood in the Dark Shadows feature films of the early 1970's.

is a really fun website by a fellow traveller in the Pre-Raphaelite/Victorian realm, Jenn Thorson. This site is full of wise, witty and creative ways to find beauty on a budget. If you think of a thrift shop as a treasure shop, this site is for you.

is the website of my friend Scarlet Ross who is a very talented graphic novel artist and professional malcontent. Some of her excellent and macabre drawings can be found here.
