The Lost and Beautiful Past
the paintings of Patrick Lynch

Artist Biography
Born in Covington, Kentucky in 1962, Patrick Lynch is a 1985 graduate of Berea College as a studio art major. He admits to being just old enough to being one of those kids who ran home from the school bus to watch Dark Shadows. Lynch is also a member of the Kentucky Antique Phonograph Society and past president of the Lexington Art League (Lexington, KY).
Artist Statement
Inspired by the English Pre-Raphaelite painters and the writers of late Victorian Kentucky—poets Madison J. Cawein and Robert Burns Wilson as well as the 19th Century “writers of the fantastic” such as Wilkie Collins, J. Sheridan LeFanu and Edgar Allen Poe— My work explores the eternal human quest for love and acknowledges the haunting melancholy of loss and longing in a setting of Gothic romance.
